    Omega 2

$5 "computer"? I've looked at chip before, just ran into this one today.

Another kickstarter program, so we'll see if it makes it out there or not.

For my kids, this one may be a nice option in the near future, depending on when it is available and if they can keep to their price point!

These guys are at least around and appear to have the first gen out there already at $20:

So i picked up a few of these months ago. For the initial price they aren't bad. They run OpenWRT and are limited on what you can install on them, it really isn't a full blown linux env. The other issue with them is that they are 2mm instead of 2.54mm spacing on the pins. A little more compact, but not bread board friendly and a bit of a pain since you really need to buy their add on boards to mount them in to boot up, etc, etc. Not a must, but they are picky on power that is for sure. They will boot and then just power off sometimes when I run them outside of the onion boards.

I did try out a competitor board, the linkit smart 7688, which is a 2.54 mm, bread board friendly board..... After playing with both, I like the Omega2 better.

With that said, they are a nice start, but not what I'm looking for at this point. I do like the 2ndary serial port on these compared to the Pi!

Picked up a beagle bone black, may have to run that through its paces next, but cost is a ton more than these others, so a trade off.
