Thats cool, I have an old Tivo laying around here somewhere.  Maybe I should pull that out and see what I can do with it.

actually, it lets you burn a DVD at normal speed, fast play, long play, and super long play, up to about 8 hours of recording, obviously the qaulity of it depends on how long you set the record length for.

and it lets you edit chapters and mark where each chapter is on the dvd, so you can edit out commercials and breaks :)

I have one of those connected to my Satellite receiver, mine has options on quality but thats about it.  You can't really do much editing on it.  Yours sounds a lot nicer.

@linosal  I have no idea what series it is I'll check when I have time.

Everything I have done with it can be done with all other REAL tivo's.. some are more difficult than others however.

a great resource is http://http://www.dealdatabase.com/forum

Yeh, now that I have a 52in HDTV ... Kinda wish I had a HD DTivo .. but unfortunately the new DTV-Leased DVR's have not been hacked as of yet, so I will stick with my SD Tivo..

Update:

Tivo is dead.. after 6 years the power supply went out on it..

I imagine I Could fix it,  by the looks it is just 1 resistor that is no longer working .. but due to my current financial situation we have not had DirecTV Service for over a year, and I have now extracted all the shows from the old Tivo drive.. Leaving no real purpose for repair.

Sadly, it seems like TIVO in general has faded from the marketplace.  The old Tivo Hacking forums (see dealdatabase) is showing signs of the faded popularity.
